What Consolatio is

Consolatio is an educational fraternity born from the experience of Attendiamoci ODV ETS, the volunteer organisation that since 2001 has accompanied the young people of Reggio Calabria and since 2022 runs Casa Kerigma in Jerusalem. In its statutes it is a private association of the faithful, lay people and priests, with its main seat in Jerusalem.

Its mission is summed up in a formula: "to console by educating and to educate by consoling". Its members share fraternal life, prayer and educational service to young people and priests, with particular attention to the Churches of the biblical lands.

The journey

A time of discernment, in Jerusalem

Since September 2026 the mission of Casa Kerigma has taken a new form: accompanying two young men who have chosen to live in Jerusalem a time of discernment and formation, to verify and safeguard their call to the service of God and of their brothers and sisters. Jerusalem, with its complexity and spiritual richness, is the first laboratory of listening: here one learns to embody the Word in an Upper Room style, made of sharing, silence and communion. Part of the journey takes place in Ephesus and in the large cities.

  1. 1 A path of deep discernment, to verify and safeguard the call
  2. 2 Study and community life in Jerusalem
  3. 3 Periods in Ephesus, among the places of Paul, John and Mary
  4. 4 Pastoral care of metropolitan cities: journeys and extended stays in large cities
  5. 5 Particular attention to the ministry of Consolation
  6. 6 An Upper Room style and a sapiential pedagogy: sharing, silence and communion

What your help is for

Every contribution becomes a concrete need

These are the items of a year of life and study in Jerusalem, for each of the two: this is what the two grants are for.

  • Accommodation · each one's share of the house in Jerusalem: rent and utilities
  • Food · daily expenses, in a city where food costs more than in Italy
  • University fees · enrolment at the Studium Theologicum Jerosolymitanum
  • Books and study materials · course texts, the Scriptures in the languages of study
  • Health insurance · the cover needed to live and study abroad
  • Visas and permits · residence and study permit, renewals, documents
  • Travel and metropolitan formation · flights between Italy and Jerusalem, periods in Ephesus, stays in large cities

Attendiamoci supports the two grants with the dedicated campaign on cipermettidi.it/consolatio, with the donations of its supporters and with applications to foundations. Contributions go into the dedicated fund, administered by Attendiamoci ODV ETS, which accounts for its use every year.
