Casa Kerigma

Jerusalem · Since September 2022, in a house entrusted to us by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem

Casa Kerigma Jerusalem

Jerusalem is the capital of the Spirit, the meeting point between the Old and the New Testament and the first steps of the Church. Here the prophets die, blood is sweated, one rises again and, after Pentecost, sets out again strong in the Spirit and in the Master's promise.

"Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age" (Mt 28:20).

The house

An upper room of the kerygma

The kerygma, from the Greek κήρυγμα ("to cry out", "to proclaim"), is the word the New Testament uses for the Christian proclamation. Casa Kerigma is the place where the events of the Upper Room, the content and the ways of the proclamation are reproduced: a lamp lit in the service of the "flame of the Spirit", for those who stay and for the many friends who follow from afar.

It is a humble place where one rereads one's own story according to the mystery of the Incarnation and the action of the Spirit, in the simplicity of community life and in a climate of continual prayer for loved ones. One may live a stay of 7 to 15 days: the typical week retraces the events of salvation in the Holy City.

Consolation

A hospital of the soul

In a world marked by suffering and division, Casa Kerigma offers itself as a place of spiritual consolation and healing of the soul.

Why Jerusalem?

Jerusalem is the heart of the world, where global tensions are reflected and human and divine history intertwine. To seek inner peace here, in the "city of peace", is to build a hospital of the soul, where healing is also emotional and spiritual.

A project of consolation

A space for dialogue and reconciliation between cultures and religions, where Christians, Jews and Muslims can share experiences, face the wounds of the spirit and discover a common hope, in gestures of love, understanding and forgiveness.

The style

Word and deeds of the Upper Room

Starting from Casa Kerigma, the aim is to reproduce the life of the apostles, with reference to the mystery of the Incarnation and with particular emphasis on the "Word and deeds" of the Upper Room, on the content and ways of the proclamation.

The events of the Upper Room

  1. 1Listening to the kerygma
  2. 2The Eucharist as memorial
  3. 3The washing of feet as a style
  4. 4The experience of mercy as the effect of the relationship with the Consoler
  5. 5Prayer for sceptics and non-believers
  6. 6The experience of the nascent Church under the action of the Spirit
  7. 7The mandate to preach
  8. 8The community life of the apostles and the presence of Mary as an ecclesial style
  9. 9The proclamation of the kerygma
  10. 10Mission to the ends of the earth

How the house is supported

A house supported by those who love it

The house is entrusted by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem to Attendiamoci, which runs it, with a significant monthly fee that the Association guarantees also with a contribution from the Archdiocese of Reggio Calabria-Bova. Guests are asked to take part in the life of the house: meals, cleaning, an offering, whatever serves the common life.

A stay has no price: once the house has accepted your request we ask for a donation to Attendiamoci ODV ETS, suggested at €40 per person per night for accommodation only, towards the running costs: food is brought from home or bought locally. It is a free-will gift; you receive a receipt by email.

Friends who share the mission of the Kerigma Project can contribute with a regular donation on cipermettidi.it/casakerigma.

Prayer

Mass intentions in Jerusalem

"As always, remembrance in prayer and the Eucharistic offering for your intentions and for your departed loved ones is an important part of my activity." From this house Fr Valerio celebrates for those who ask him: you can indicate the date, the intentions and, if you wish, a Gregorian Mass or one repeated over time.
