The journey

Antonino Simone Spanò, Nino to everyone, was born in Reggio Calabria on 24 April 1996. After the “Tommaso Campanella” classical high school he graduated in civil engineering at the “Mediterranea” University (master’s degree with full marks, honours and special mention) and obtained a PhD in Ocean Engineering at IUSS Pavia, with a research period at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. A chartered engineer since 2023, he worked as a post-doctoral researcher and, between 2024 and 2026, as managing director of an engineering company producing energy from waves.

In Attendiamoci

After a significant experience as an AGESCI scout leader he became a member of Attendiamoci, where he served as leader of the university students’ group (2022-2023) and of the Bet Midrash group, the extended community-life experience in a property confiscated from the ‘ndrangheta (2024-2025). Since 2023 he has designed and overseen the building of Parco Margariti, an educational park on the Ionian coast of Calabria, and in 2025-2026 he coordinated the projects of Casa Kerigma.

In Jerusalem

Since 22 September 2026 he lives at Casa Kerigma in Jerusalem, in the educational fraternity Consolatio: a time of discernment and formation that begins with a two-year philosophy cycle at the Studium Theologicum Jerosolymitanum, community life and service in the house, periods in Ephesus and in large cities.

He plays the piano and the guitar, and sails.

His journey, together with Manuel’s, is supported by Attendiamoci’s formation grant fund: cipermettidi.it/consolatio.
