The journey
Manuel Grasso was born in Acireale on 3 March 1991. After the scientific high school he entered the Military Academy of Modena (193rd “Valore” course) and the Carabinieri Officers’ School in Rome; he graduated in law and in internal and external security sciences at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, and obtained two postgraduate master’s degrees, in Intelligence at the University of Calabria and in the fight against organised crime and corruption at the University of Pisa.
In the Carabinieri
Lieutenant in Reggio Calabria and Taurianova, captain in Rome Montesacro and then in Ivrea, where he commanded a company of fourteen stations and about one hundred and seventy officers, major and commander of the Vibo Valentia company: fifteen years of service, largely devoted to investigations against organised crime in Calabria and Rome. He received the international Nassiriya Prize for Peace (2021), five commendations from the Calabria Carabinieri Legion, a commendation from the Lazio Legion and the recognition of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Palmi. In September 2026 he left the service to begin a path of discernment towards the priesthood.
In Attendiamoci
A scout as a boy, leader of the university students’ group of the parish of Saint Thomas More in Rome, he has been a volunteer of Attendiamoci since 2014, of the youth ministry of Ivrea since 2021 and of Casa Kerigma in Jerusalem since 2022. For three years he directed the choir of the Carabinieri cadets’ school in Reggio Calabria.
In Jerusalem
Since 22 September 2026 he lives at Casa Kerigma in the educational fraternity Consolatio, with Nino: a time of discernment that begins with the two-year philosophy cycle at the Studium Theologicum Jerosolymitanum, community life and service in the house, periods in Ephesus and in large cities, to prepare for a ministry attentive to consolation and to the pastoral care of metropolitan cities.
His journey is supported by Attendiamoci’s formation grant fund: cipermettidi.it/consolatio.
